paragraph on how-to tape an ankle

Treatment and prevention comes with being an athlete.  Taping an ankle is one thing I learned from repeatedly watching an athletic trainer tape my ankle.  The first step is to cover the ankle with prewrap.  This insures a tight wrap without the uncomfortable tape sticking to the ankle.  The second step is to put an anchor and the top and bottom of the foot.  The third step is attaching three stirrups, take a strip of tape and attach it above the ankle on one the inside of the ankle and wrap it around the bottom of the heel and attach it to the outside of the ankle and help prevents irritation. The fourth step that takes place is three horse shoes, start by attaching tape to the outside of the middle of your arch and wrap it around the back of your heel and each time move further up the ankle, for a total of three strips of tape.  You have to secure the ankle by doing the fifth step of applying three heel locks, which are just like figure eights around the heel.  Finally close you the tape job by taping over any prewrap that is still exposed and any loose ends of the tape.  This final step will help keep the tape from coming undone when competing.   This is one of the most common forms of prevention used in the athletic training room.
